Our vision in a nutshell

The ecological and socio-economical challenges we face as humanity may seem overwhelming but there is a solution.

We Can

  • live ecologically more sustainable,

  • restore and preserve natural resources for future generations,

  • improve our health (ecovillages have Blue Zone characteristics),

  • increase resilience against instabilities in the global economy, and

  • rebuild community

by becoming an ecovillager. This does not mean we need to move to a village. Ecovillages can also be created in suburbs and to some extent even in city neighborhoods.

The quintessential ecovillage is a

  • human-scale (50-150 people)

  • full-featured settlement (residence, food provision, manufacture, leisure, social life, and commerce)

  • in which human activities are harmlessly integrated into the natural world

  • in a way that is supportive of healthy human development and can be successfully continued into the indefinite future.
